Overview

What is the 7 Skills program?

Entitled 7 Skills of a Highly Successful Rep, it describes the competencies, required for top performance in the sales representative role across the Pharmaceutical industry in Canada as defined and validated by a select group of 27 representatives from 15 companies. It is a very unique program. The focus of this program is very different from anything CCPE has developed in the past. It is not about knowledge or testing...

It is a practical tool to guide you in your development efforts. It is designed to complement the current competency model and organization developmental process your employer currently has in place.

It becomes the official CCPE Pharma Learning and Development Framework. In total 158 sub-tasks were described, organized in 38 technical tasks and regrouped in 7 technical competencies.

The program is delivered as a complementary toolkit for the self-development of successful pharmaceutical representatives. The skills framework is accompanied by 3 practical components:

  • Self-assessment tool to evaluate current level of proficiency
  • Learning guide for competency development
  • Resourceful Learning Catalogue (nearly 400 references) to select what to learn from

Who is it for?

This program was developed for new or experienced pharmaceutical representatives wishing to learn and develop on their path to success.

  • Wishing to measure up against our 7 standard skills
  • Looking to identify technical skills that need to be further developed
  • Wishing to access a personal learning and development plan
  • Curious to understand how they learn best
  • Looking for a wealth of professional resources available to fuel their growth

Why was it created?

It was designed to complement the current competency model and organization developmental process your employer currently has in place. Our goal was to clearly articulate the requirements of the role, as well as initiate a first attempt to define general competency standards.

CCPE is recognized as the standard accrediting body for human systems and pharmacological treatments in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. For 35 years, CCPE has been the provision of an educational program to establish improved professional standards within the Canadian pharmaceutical industry, to better meet the needs and expectations of our internal and external stakeholders in the healthcare industry.

Who uses it?

One Rx&D member company has acquired the electronic files set to complement their behaviour competencies model. The personal learning and developmental learning plan was implemented to provide a uniform approach to developmental effort and coaching. The CCPE learning catalogue was also segmented and adapted to each of the specific technical competencies used within this organization.
